It’s 2010 – do you know where your leg warmers are?!? If so, I encourage you to put them on and come to Xanadu trivia tomorrow night, as costumes are always enthusiastically encouraged! Since the touring company of Xanadu just roller skated through town, I thought it would be a good time to indulge in a little roller disco magic, 1980 style. Most of the questions will be about the film itself, of course, but I’ve got a book learnin’ round of relevant literature, geography, etc. prepared as well. Also, instead of standard I Don’t Feel Tardy, wherein I play song clips that you identify, we will play Trivioke for the final round! Trivioke was invented by my great trivia jockey Michele when she created That’s So Gay Trivia. In this round, I play a song, and stop the music at a random point, and YOU complete the line of lyrics I’ve interrupted. It is mad fun, and I think it’s perfect for Xanadu night! I also hope to have a pair of leg warmers to offer as a prize to someone – I will try to complete them tonight.

Margaret is another of my wonderful trivia jockeys, and she has been collecting donations for Mercy Corps, an acclaimed humanitarian aid organization based right here in Portland. Mercy Corps is working hard in Haiti right now not only to provide immediate assistance (water, food, medical care) to victims of the earthquake, but also to offer employment opportunities to the survivors. Thank you so much to everyone at both Ella Street Social Club and Hawthorne Hideaway who donated money to this important work.

Ladies and gentlemen, the trivia jockey has an important question for YOU, although it is not of a trivial nature . . . this is a matter of great import – who wants team T-shirts?! My annual Triviology tournament nears (Clash of the Trivia Titans!), so I have looked into having customized Tshirts made. The front would still remain as the large leprekey logo on the pre-shrunk American Apparel shirts I already have . . .

. . . but YOUR team name would emblazon the back. Turns out that it would cost a mere $3 more per shirt, so you could buy as many (or as few) team shirts as you want for only $16 dollars apiece! Let me know if you might be interested in having some made, and I’ll arrange everything for you. The turnaround time is a couple of weeks, so I’d probably want to order them within a week or two, to ensure that you’ll be able to wear them at the tournament. For now, just let me know if you’re interested, and then I’ll collect all of the details later.
