I’m taking a trip down memory lane folks. To a time when Kajagoogoo was on the radio, Duran Duran were on my bedroom walls, I dressed as Adam Ant for Halloween, and I wanted to live in Shermer, Illinois. Join me on this trip to 80s trivia night; we begin at 6:00 at East Burn, and it shall be rad. I’ll have a little book learnin’, but the questions will be pop cultre heavy. Also, the format will be a little different – no Let’s Get Physical or Walri, and for the Whammy round I’ll plug my good ole camera into the TV projector for a picture ID round. In addition to the standard East Burn gift certificate for the champions, the top two highest scoring teams will receive Adventureland T-shirts. There will also be a couple of CD soundtracks to the film which will be up for grabs, one of which is very likely to go to the individual wearing the best 80s attire. Afterwards, if one quiz a night ain’t enough for you, join me for the Ladd’s Inn quiz at 9:00, which will be the standard Triviology format you have come to know and (hopefully!) love.

As for my next special event, the Queers vs. Breeders Trivia Showdown, all you need to know for now is to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 11th. This event will run from about 6:00 – 8:00, and will be held at the spacious Spare Room. Each team of five (or less) will choose a side, either “Queer” or “Breeder.” Whether you and/or your teammates, are actually gay, straight, bi-sexual, tri-sexual, what-have-you is irrelevant – it’s all about love, people! Michelle of That’s So Gay Trivia will showcase some of her extra-awesome rounds (trivioke!), as I will some of mine (I Am A Walrus!).

Before signing off, I want to share an awesome Natalie Portmanteau with you, courtesy of Willocalypse. This team went up against Fellatio Hornblower in a recent tie-breaker at HawHide; here’s the clue:

2008 Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee PLUS an actress who is known for bitchiness.

Now, had this been a standard, prepared Natalie Portmanteau, as opposed to an off-the-cuff tie-breaker, I would’ve chosen different clues, since “bitchiness” is open to debate. At any rate, the “correct” answer was “Michael Shannen Doherty,” however, Willocalypse answered “Josh BroLindsay Lohan” . . . ladies and gentlemen, this is unprecedented! In over four years of Triviology, nobody has ever composed an alternate Natalie Portmanteau which is actually correct. In this case, Brolin was nominate for Milk, and a quick Google will confirm that Ms. Lohan is indeed perceived as a bitch by the world at large. Congratulations to Willocalypse for trumping the trivia jockey, and thusly winning the night!
