15 Winnings of Fame!
Tuesday, February 15th, 2011Next Sunday is the Clash of The Trivia Titans, and everyone is invited to play! It’s only $5 person, which gains you entry for the whole event . . . and a prize! Registration is at 5:00, and the Olympian Open (which is a regular Triviology quiz, minus the Physical and Whammy challenges) starts at 5:30. The Olympian champion becomes the wild card seed who goes on to compete in The Titan Invitational (same format as The Open), which will start about 8. The Titans are those teams that have won . . . 15 times or more since the last Clash of the Trivia Titans.That’s right, I have lowered the magic qualifying number to 15! Why? Because I endeavor each year to find the perfect number that doesn’t shut any teams out of Titanship by only one win. Every single team this year has won 15 times or more, OR 13 teams or less. And, for those intrepid teams that are still struggling to become Titans, it is possible for you to still qualify, right up until The Slammer quiz the day before the tournament! Here are your best bets for wins: Cruzroom on Tuesday @ 7, The WorkShop Pub on Wednesday @ 8:30, or Kenton Club on Thursday @ 9.

If you think your name should be on this list, but it’s not . . . please let me know (and check out the Hall of Fame)! And if you’d like more details about the event, including prizes, full schedule, etc., explore the COTT page. And even if you don’t win any awards for trivia prowess at the tournament, there are still lots of ways to score a trophy! For example, there’s The Spirit Bunny Award! At The Half-Time Show, after my trivia jockeys perform for us, it will be your team’s turn to show off! Your presentation may be as simple or as elaborate as you wish, and the team who receives the loudest applause will win this glorious trophy:
Also, whether you know it or not, you’ve been competing for other awards all year long: Best Shit-Talkers, Favorite Foes, and The Underdog Award (for that tenacious team that keeps on playing, even though they never seem to win). YOU will determine these categories (and Best Bartender & Favorite Venue) by voting, either at a venue during trivia (as many of you have already done), or by taking this short survey.
