March 26th, 2009Playing trivia is so much fun – I was thrilled to be able find a great quiz to play on Tuesday, since Sewickly’s gave me the night off for St. Patty’s Day! Of course, I would have rather had an I Don’t Feel Tardy round, some Natalie Portmanteaux, and a couple of Walri, but since I can’t really put on trivia for myself, quizmaster Edward at The Leisure Public House was a great substitute. He has a unique, tart style (he’s a “bitch-caller”) and format, and provides a good mixture of pop culture and book learnin’ . . . and since I admire a fellow independent quizmaster, I give you my permission to go check him out! Oh, by the way, Bananas O’Shaughnessy, a dynamic duo of myself and Michelle, hostess of That’s So Gay Trivia (which is on hiatus), totally kicked butt against 6 person teams!
Michelle and I are also proud to announce that the Queers vs. Breeders Trivia Showdown will indeed be held at The Spare Room, which has proven itself a worthy home for Triviology events. The date is Saturday, April 11th, the time is 6:00, and the details . . . have yet to be worked out. In fact, we (and a bunch of friends) are going to have a “working weekend” (spring break!) during which we will work (and play!) very hard to put together a super-awesome trivia event – this is why I will be absent from La Merde on Thursday. But fear not – you will be in the capable hands of Kyle, who is one of the funnest people I have ever met. Here we are preparing for a top-secret adventure:
I awarded one point for identifying the artist, and one point for naming all three of the pictured individuals. Although SOMETHING INAPPROPRIATE ABOUT PATRICK SWAYZE won the night, they did make an amusing omission . . . they knew the group was Run-DMC, but they could name only two of the members: Run and . . . Jam-Master Jay! Not DMC. They couldn’t remember the guy with the glasses . . . that is funny, people! Anyway, come on down to Peter’s this Wednesday – I’m handing out free ShanRock’s Triviology T-shirts to the winning team! This is my oldest venue, so I’d like to provide something extra at the place where it all began. See you there at 8:00!
