Fans of Duckie, Chet, The Basket Case, Cameron, and The Donger UNITE – it is time to celebrate John Hughes . . . by trivializing his life’s work! We know about the reality of the man’s death, but let’s not mess with the fantasy. Tomorrow (Saturday the 5th) at Peter’s 19th Hole I will host a lunar quiz focusing on the mighty director’s teen comedies (16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off). Role call is at 7:00, and costumes are strongly encouraged . . . in fact, dressing in an argyle sweater, tan trousers, and red shoes might be a good strategy – your frenemies will assume you’re “retarded”!
