Awards season ain’t over yet, folks – Barflymag.com, Portland’s original bar guide, is preparing for the annual BarFly Awards! You can make all kinds of nominations right here, in many different categories, from Best Town Drunk to Best Band for a One-Night-Stand, to . . . OH, looky here: Most Terrific-est Trivia Jockey! What an exciting new category! You can submit nominations through this Friday night, and the official candidates will be announced next week. Should I earn a nomination for the Quizzery party, I will continue to represent all the Triviologists of the land in a most awesome fashion, and not let that shit go to my head.
This April is the 2nd anniversary of my lunar quiz series, and I think it’s high time to put the wheels in motion for the much anticipated quiz about nothing . . . Seinfeld Triviology! The champion team will win the Master of Your Domain trophy, and gift certificates to the bar, which is Peter’s 19th Hole. I have scheduled this event for Saturday, April 3rd (at 7:00), so that it won’t conflict with any fantasy baseball camp schedules. Let me tell ya . . . this quiz is going to be gold, people – GOLD!

Thank you one and all for yet another rollicking Clash Of The Trivia Titans! One of my favorite things about this annual trivia tournament is seeing your team spirit shine through. For example, check out this photo of Midas Touch My Balls:
What the hell are they doing? They are WINNING the Spirit Bunny Award! In fact, there are so many champions from the tournament that I am once again preparing a whole page on my website in your honor. I hope to have it up by next week’s newsletter. The page will include lots of photos and video, and if you have some that you’d like to share, please send them to me at shanrockstrivia@gmail.com. I will answer one big question for you right now, though – last year’s Titan champions, Dr. Spaceman, literally passed the torch to last year’s Olympian winners . . . I Smell A Clambake is the 2010 Titan champion team (and nobody is more suprised than team captain Richie)!
Congratulations are also due to the team that won the Peter O’Toole, my trophy for the champions of the annual Oscars quiz. The team even dressed up their name for the red carpet – Bea Arthur’s Dick In A Box became Bea Arthur’s Dick in Vera Wang!
Also, folks, there is a Wednesday night special running only at Peter’s 19th Hole – buy a $3.50 pint of Widmer Pitch Black, which is already a good deal, then keep the Widmer pint glass. If you haven’t been to this venue yet, please come check it out. Peter’s is the bar that gave me my start over 5 years ago, it has won Favorite Venue, AND you all have selected Jackie as the Best Bartender . . . twice! I hope to see you there.
