This is the Super Bowl of trivia; the Oscars of pub quizzery...there will be one team to rule them all! Everyone is invited to compete in this annual two-tiered Triviology tournament for loads of trophies, prizes, and glory! Even if you have never played trivia before, you are welcome to join in the Olympian Open. After those teams receive prizes, the Olympian champion will be awarded their trophy and become the wild card seed which goes on to compete in the Titan Invitational, along with the winningest squads of the whole trivia season. The biggest prize that the overall Titan champions will receive is a free, private, customized quiz which ShanRock will host in your home, at your work, or for your favorite non-profit organization. Looking for a place to watch the LOST finale? Look no further, friends – after my standard 6:00 East Burn quizzery tonight (5/23), we’ll watch the finale on the huge projector screen! The show itself doesn’t start until 9:00, so the trivia will be over in plenty of time to enjoy the finale. Also, mark you calendars for Saturday, June 12th – this is the date of the much anticipated LOST Triviology night! This lunar quiz will be held at 7:00 at Peter’s 19th Hole.
My big event this week is the debut of The Speakeasy! Every Tuesday at 8:00, the lovely Charlene will bring Triviology your way with lots of hot, fresh fun . . . AND $30 worth of gift certificates to the bar for the champs. For the premiere, I’ve also got extra prizes for at least the top 3 or 4 highest scoring teams, including loads of tickets to a sneak preview of Get Him To The Greek (a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall)! You know it’s a tremendous badge of honor to claim the first win at a new Triviology venue, right? Please come on out, and enjoy some great food and drink served up by Junior, one of Portland’s finest barkeeps.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 18th) brings another opportunity to play some fun quizzery while donating to a great cause! I will host a night of trivia at Old Town Pizza Town Pizza at VanPort Square, and all proceeds go to PCRI, a local non-profit organization which provides affordable housing to low-income families. It costs $12 to the cause to play in the fundraiser (or just $50 for a team of five), and there are prizes for the three highest scoring teams. I’ll kick off the quizzery about 7:00. If you prefer to stick with your good ole Tuesday night trivia, fear not – Michele will be subbing for me at Sewickly’s, so you are in very good hands! By the way, Sewickly’s now features great food specials during Triviology, some come on in and stuff your face while gettin’ your quiz on!
Speaking of my awesome “apprentice TJs,” I’ve got a brand new venue which will be hosted by a girl who turns the world on with her laugh, and will turn your brain on with a quiz! Ladies and gentleman, introducing Charlene, your hostess at my newest venue, The Speakeasy!
Speakeasy Triviology will debut on May 25th, and continue on every Tuesday at 8:00 from then until eternity (I own Charlene’s soul now). I know how you all love to be the first team to win at a new venue, so come mark your territory! Junior will is your magnificent bartender during the quizzery, and you’re gonna love him – I guarantee he’ll be a serious contender for my annual Best Bartender vote. Here’s a trivia question for you – where was this picture of Charlene taken? It is at a bar in SE Portland, and if you tell her the correct answer at The Speakeasy on debut night, she will give you a prize. Don’t get too excited, though – it’ll probably just be a pack of Nerds.
