Double-Header of Trivia Tonight!

Sunday is one one of only two nights a week that you can double-dip ShanRock’s Triviology, so come on out to East Burn tonight at 6:00, then follow me over to Ladd’s Inn for a second helping of fresh trivia at 9:00! Or, tomorrow night (and any other Monday), join Kyle on the west side for happy hour trivia atElla St. Social Club, then head back across the river for my 8:00 at Hawthorne Hideaway. There are just so many chances for you to show off how much stuff you know!

For those of you that miss BrentBird, my original trivia jockey at Kenton Club, come to this venue this Thursday (the 21st). Kyle will host the quiz as usual, but for the first time, Brent will actually get to play at The World Famous Kenton Club! In fact, if you’re lucky, he’ll play with YOU . . . if your team has less than five players, Brent is willing to pimp himself out to all takers. 

When you pick up Willamette Week’s Drink Guide this week, you may notice an ad for a certain awesome and familiar quiz night in town. It seems almost old fashioned to invest in ad space in an actual hard copy newspaper, but I figured I needed to recruit some new competition for all you smarty pantses out there! Here are some of your current foes. If you would also like a team page, simply write down anything you’d like to say about your crew and send it to me (shannon@shanrockstrivia.com) – your page will magically appear on the interwebs shortly thereafter.

Kyle Makes A Deuce!

Congratulations to Los Puercos Infermos, the quiz champions at Tuesday’s fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation). In addition to standard trivia, they triumphed in a Wheel of Fortune round, as well as in the backwards spelling bee (BTW, expect to see the latter round appearing at a variety of my venues this coming week!). Allison Kramer of LGA Creative, who organized this event, would love to get more recruits for the Great Strides Walkathon to raise money for the CFF – sign up online if you’re interested in helping out.

Kudos are also due to Use Your Allusion, who bested a slew of other teams in Arrested Development trivia at my most recent lunar quiz: Franklin Comes Alive! My newest trivia jockey, Kyle, did a great job of challenging our knowledge of Tony Wonder, “I’m Poor” magazine, and shark jumping. The competition was stiff, and included a Buster-inspired physical challenge . . .
. . . and a picture ID round including graham crackers and rape horns. Come on back to Peter’s 19th Hole for the next lunar quiz on Saturday, June 6th at 7:00. This music themed trivia night will be hosted by Trivia Jock Scott, and will include a couple of rounds of sound clips, lots of general questions about all kinds of music, and probably a video clip round as well. This was one of my most popular thematic quizzes last year – don’t miss it! Oh, and by the way, here’s a picture of Kyle posing as Stan Sitwell:
Here’s a hot tip – right now, the best way to bump up your win tally is to play at Ella Street Social Club. As my newest venue, attendance is still light, so come on out to this happy hour quiz to get some wins under your belt before this place blows up! This is also a great bar to hit after a Timbers game, as it is right by PGE Park (just south of Burnside at 714 SW 20th Place). Kyle is doing a wonderful job hosting at  Da Club, and in fact, he’ll be handing out some small but fun extra prizes this Monday, in addition to regular loot for the two highest scoring teams.
Also, Kyle is taking over hosting duties at Kenton Club. We hate to see TJ BrentBird go, but for some reason, his day job (which pays his mortgage) takes precedence over this wonderful little dalliance we call trivia. He’ll be back at Kenton Club on May 21st, not to host, but to play . . . perhaps he could be persuaded to join a team of less than five, if you’d like to recruit him. Thanks so much, Brent, for all of the time and energy you have put into ShanRock’s Triviology! I’ll miss your input on history questions, Ridley Scott, graphic novels, Rihanna song selections, and of course, having a third underling. For those of you that miss Trivia Jock Margaret, she will be subbing for me this week at La Merde – I imagine that she can be talked into showing you her baby pictures.
