The Cubicle Quiz is Mandatory!
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009Tomorrow’s Cubicle Quiz re: Office Space & The Office is indeed mandatory, but it will be a Casual Saturday (wear your Hawaiian shirts and flair!), and there will be booze. On the meeting agenda: rundowns of Initech, Wernham-Hogg, and Dunder-Mifflin. We will be working on your team-building skills, so you will group yourself into squads of 5 or fewer, and there will be prizes for the winners, along with the title Employees of the Month. Punch in at 7:00 at Peter’s 19th Hole, since there will is a ping pong tournament scheduled in our usual conference room. Also, now is the time to take some petty cash out to buy tickets for the annual Barfly Trivia Bus, with me, Trivia Jock ShanRock, as your guide. I’ll host a round of drunked-down quizzery at several different bars – you do the thinkin’ & drinkin’, and we do the drivin’! The bus rolls on October the 10th, and the nerd-tastic champion team wins $100 cash-money!
Wordstock descends upon Portland next week, and once again, I will prepare several quizzes in conjunction with this annual festival of the written word. The theme this year is “be a literary omnivore,” thus, I will include a taste round at each of my Wordstock trivia nights, in addition to extra literature questions. Fear not – there will still be plenty of pop culture, but this will be the bibliophiles’ chance to shine! As usual, you can play as much Triviology as you like, as I prepare fresh questions each night. The Wordstock quizzes, for the week of Oct. 4th – 8th, are: East Burn (Sun @ 6:00), Hawthorne Hideaway (Mon @ 8:00), Sewickly’s (Tue @ 7:30), Peter’s 19th Hole (Wed @ 8:00), & La Merde (Thu @ 9:00). All of my other venues will employ the standard awesomeness of Triviology.
This Tuesday, the 6th, I will finally breach the NorthWest quadrant by launching a monthly quiz atO’Brien’s! I am absolutely honored to have the man I call my “trivia sensei,” Drew, be your host at this venue. Drew has been creating and hosting adventures which combine trivia and booze since the 1980s . . . and now he’s back! Showtime is at 7:30.
Last Monday’s “Arrested Development” quiz, I Just Blue Myself, was a huge success, with our busiest night yet at Ella Street Social Club. So successful, in fact, that in addition to the weekly quizzery there, we’ve decided to host special themes here the first Monday of each month. Therefore, on November 2nd at Da Club, Kyle will host an “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” quiz – there will be karate and friendship for everyone!
